Day 1: Marrakech
Arrive to Marrakech Airport and transfer to your Riad in the old Medina You will have a half day free upon arrival to discover this vibrant city also known as the “Red City” because of its pink-tinted buildings. Visit the souks, and plunge into the excitement of the place Djemâa El-Fna Square in the heart of Morocco. There you will be delighted by the dancers, snake charmers, jugglers, narrators, and singers as well as enjoy a refreshing orange juice in front of the numerous workshops. Spend the night in Marrakech.
Day 2: Marrakech sightseeing:
Following breakfast, you will have a full day tour of Marrakech including a horse-drawn carriage ride around the city ramparts and lunch. You will visit the Koutoubia Minaret, the Majorelle Gardens, the 16th century Saadian Tombs, the Bahia Palace, and the Dar Si Said Palace museum of jewelry, kaftans, leatherwork, carpets, chests and doors. Spend the night in Marrakech.
Day 3: Marrakech to Essaouira
Leave Marrakesh to Essaouira to explore the port and to enjoy a seafood lunch. A short route will lead you to the imperial city of the South, Marrakech. Here you will find amazing architecture and an extraordinary street life that makes it a fascinating stop. You will have time to investigate the many shops and the narrow alleys around the city. In the evening, the center of life is in the Djemâa El-Fna Square, where a swarm of fanciful snake charmers, narrators, minstrels, fortune-tellers entertain amid the stalls of foods and fresh orange juice. Spend the night in Essaouira.
Day 4: Essaouira / Agadir / Taroudant:
In the morning we leave Essaouira towards Taroudant crossing Agadir to breathe the air of the Atlantic Ocean on the beach. After lunch we continue to TAROUDANT. We visit both Berbers and Arabe souks of the city. Spend the night in a typical Moroccan riad.
Day 5: TIOUT – AIT BAHA – TAFRAOUT
The day begins by investigating the: souks of silver before beginning the road to the interior. You will cross the sweet agricultural landscapes and then wind into the mountain which can take surprising tones. You will see small Berber villages coiled on hillsides, becoming confused almost with the earth surroundings. In the afternoon you will arrive at Tafraoute in the heart of a striking landscape. The village is famous for its almond trees, its argan oil and its slippers. Snuggled up in a charming valley, Ameln, the meadows of Tafraoute is ideal for walking.
Day 6: Tafraout / Ait Mansour Valley/ Anti Atlas / Tata :
Discovery of the valley and the Berber traditional house. Take the opportunity to get in touch with the lifestyle and the local culture. Tata is a city of the Anti Atlas and is good stopping point before resuming the track. It is a quiet town in tones pastel of pink, blue and yellow tones.In the evening take advantage of the famous Moroccan hospitality.
Day 7: Tata to Zagora
Traveling on rarely frequented tracks, and in a seldom-visited sector you will experience landscapes very different from those that you may know. At the end of day you will reach Zagora, the heart of a beautiful oasis.
Day 8: Zagora to Merzouga and Erg Chebbi Desert
You will approach the desert regions of Morocco, traversing in a 4×4 , the immense track through barren landscapes. Before arriving in Merzouga, you will travel on a camel to join your camp under traditional Berber tents and to admire the sunset on the dunes of golden sand. In the evening, by a campfire under the starry sky, the traditional musicians will help you to catch the spirit of the desert.Night in a Bivouac Camp.
Day 9: Erg Chebbi to Rissani:
Here in the Erg Chebbi sand dunes, the largest in Morocco, enjoy the panoramic scene of black volcanic rock on the plains, the bright blue sky, the green palm trees, white salt beds, mirages of water, and golden shifting dunes. Visit Rissani for the weekly markets where Nomads come to sell. Pass the lake in Merzouga to see the flamingos. Have lunch with our Berber family and friends. You will spend the evening in a Kasbah Hotel.
Day 10: Erg Chebbi / Tafilalet Oasis / Todra Gorge / Dades Valley:
Wake-up to a spectacular sunrise in the desert and enjoy breakfast. Bivouac trekkers will return by camel and continue to Todra Gorges. You will travel through some of Morocco’s wildest terrain in a 4×4 to reach the Dadès Gorges and for the energetic, have the opportunity to trek into the fabulous Gorges. Stay the evening in Dades Valley.
Day 11: Dades Valley / Rose Valley / Skoura Oasis / Ait Ben Hadou / Marrakech
Enjoy breakfast and continue the journey to visit the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Aït Benhaddou that is situated on a hill along the Ouarzazate River. This beautiful example of southern Moroccan architecture has been used as a backdrop for over 20 films including Lawrence of Arabia, Jewel of the Nile, The Mummy, and Gladiator. You will then continue to Marrakesh over the Tizi N’ Tichka Pass while enjoying superb views of the High Atlas Mountains and of the Berber villages. Night in Marrakech.
